Fans worry for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s career after horrible knee injury
It didn’t look good.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic took a nasty fall on Thursday night during Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final second leg clash with Anderlecht.
With the tie finely poised at 2-2 on aggregate and heading to extra time, United’s top scorer competed for a header and landed awkwardly on his knee, buckling it in an unnatural position.
The big Swede, who had been wasteful in front of goal throughout on the night, was unsurprisingly replaced by Anthony Martial as the 90 minutes came to an end.
And, given Ibrahimovic’s age of 35, such a nasty-looking knee injury could mean serious consequences for the rest of his career.
The similarities with Kurt Zouma’s knee injury for Chelsea last season, which kept him out for nearly a year, were obvious.
The people of social media, as a result, were seriously concerned by the severity of Ibrahimovic’s knock and feared for the remainder of his career:
At his age, that could be a career ending injury 😔 #Ibrahimovic

Ibrahimovic looks to have hyper extended his knee there. Reminds me a lot of the injury Kurt Zouma suffered against United last season.
